On the eve of the winter session of Parliament, sparks flew between the government and the Opposition as finance minister Arun Jaitley accused Trinamool chief Mamata Banerjee of acting “neither responsible nor nationalistic”.

Banerjee had earlier accused the Centre for stage-managing the blast in Burdwan which is suspected to be handiworks of Bangladeshi terror groups. On Saturday, she alleged Centre’s “vindictive role” in CBI’s arrest of her party MP Srinjoy Bose because she attended a Congress’ function.

In a strong rebuttal, Jaitley in his blog said, “The police or the other intelligence agencies have no substantive material to establish that the blast was stage-managed? If there is no material, why has Didi chosen to allege that the blast was stage managed? Such allegations clearly help the actual culprits. This is neither responsible nor nationalistic.”

Expressing his “deep disappointment” with “Mamata Didi’s reaction” to the interrogation and arrest of Trinamool leaders, he wrote: “Some individuals connected with the TMC have been involved in making easy money from the Ponzi schemes. As a new political Party, it was incumbent on any responsible leader to purge the party of such leaders. It is regrettable that Mamata Didi instead of doing that has chosen to identify herself with the cause of these leaders.”
