The man, Sonuman, aged 30 and a resident of Indore, was admitted in the district hospital on December 25 last, following some serious injuries in his right leg. He was put in the isolation ward.

An eyewitness, Bhaiya Ram Tiwari, said that about a dozen stray dogs roam in the hospital. These dogs have some times eaten flesh of the unclaimed bodies left in the mortuary.

He said that some days back also these dogs had attacked Sonuman and he (Tiwari) and his friends had shooed them away. It was not clear whether Sonuman was alive or dead

when the dogs bit his flesh. Some passers-by and an auto-rickshaw driver shooed away the dogs when they were eating Sonuman’s flesh.

His wounds had turned septic because of irregular and careless medication. The hospital was providing free medicines and food to Sonuman, added Dr Mishra. MLA Govind Rajput MLA charged that the patients in the hospital were not safe. He will bring the matter to the notice of Health Minister, he added.
