A 76-year-old man died following a heart attack just before casting his vote at a polling booth in Mysore in the simultaneous elections to Lok Sabha and the state Assembly in the second and final phase today.

Police said Gopalakrishnachar, a retired teacher, was among the early voters who were in the queue and collapsed suddenly just before his turn came for exercising his franchise.

As the man who had come alone collapsed, police and electoral officials rushed to his help but found that he had breathed his last.
