The incident took place in Badshahpur. The couple is undergoing treatment in two separate hospitals in the city.

After a quarrel with his wife, Preetam, 28, the accused, took his son Vinod (name changed) to a secluded place and opened fire on him with a country-made gun. What infuriated him was the fight with his wife Anju, a resident of Tikri village. Following the quarrel Anju hanged herself.

"She was rushed to Paras Hospital in Sushant Lok by Preetam and her family members. After he killed his son, he stabbed himself," said Maheshwar Dayal, DCP.

The accused is a farmer and owns property in Gurgaon. "He killed his son with a revolver which he had procured from one of his tenants illegally. He was crying for help when he was spotted by local residents," he added.

Preetam is undergoing treatment at Artemis Hospital and his condition is stated to be critical. The police said the woman's condition is also serious.

A case of murder has been registered against the accused.
