Man, sons sentenced to life in murder case

A Fast Track Court sentenced a man and his two sons to undergo life imprisonment in a case relating to the murder of a person at a crematorium in Madurai.

A Fast Track Court on Wednesday sentenced a man and his two sons to undergo life imprisonment in a case relating to the murder of a person at a crematorium in Madurai.

Delivering the sentence,Fast Track Court Judge Jacob Jayakumar also imposed a fine of Rs 2000 on each of them.

In the event of failure to pay the fine, each will have to serve one more year.

According to prosecution, "Bullet" Balu of Chokkikulam and his two sons,Jaganathan and Sivapraksam, had gone to take part in a funeral.

When the funeral procession was moving towards Thataneri, Jaganathan and Sivapraksam allegedly had a wordy duel with a person identified as R Pandi(24) of the same locality,which resulted in exchange of blows at the crematorium.

After a while, the duo stabbed Pandi who succumbed to injuries at hospital. Police registered a case of murder in March 2008 against all the three persons,inculding Balu.
