As the date of polling for byelection is nearing, leaders of Congress party and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are leaving no stone unturned to woo the voters of Mandi parliamentary constituency.
Chief minister Virbhadra Singh hold election rallies in Nachan segment of the district. Convenor of the 20-point programme Ram Lal Thakur addressed the media people at Mandi, and alleged that Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) was not a registered society, but a company owned by MP Anurag Thakur.
Thakur said that registered society was a group of people of common interest who work together for achieving aims and objectives of the society in larger public interest and HPCA earlier was registered as a welfare society to promote cricket in the state, but now it was owned by Anurag Thakur.
On the other hand, state BJP general secretary, Randhir Sharma, held public meetings at Saraj and Mandi sadar blocks. Former transport minister Mahender Singh Thakur and BJP state vice-president Rajiv Saijal addressed rallies and party workers and claimed that Congress candidate Pratibha Singh had failed to utilise her MPLAD funds when she represented the Mandi parliamentary constituency in 2004 and had failed to address public grievances during her tenure as an MP.
On the other hand, Virbhadra's son, Vikramaditya, while canvassing in Jogindernagar sub-division areas said that his mother Pratibha Singh spent every single penny of MPLAD funds for the development of Mandi parliamentary constituency.

{{/usCountry}}He said that his mother during her earlier tenure as an MP was instrumental in bringing Indian Institute of Technology to Mandi, Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) medical college-cum-hospital and Rohtang tunnel to the state.
Two more candidates filed their nominations as Independents. Social activist of Mandi town, Lawan Thakur and social activist and lawyer of Nirmand area of Kullu district, Subhash Mohan Snehi, filed their papers at here on Wednesday. With two inderpendents, nfow four candidates are in fray.
