TO EXPAND public facilities at new ‘mandis’, the Mandi Parishad has decided to open its doors to private participation. Under public private participation integrated pack house will be established at Meerut, Allahabad, Agra and Moradabad.
A meeting of Mandi Parishad was held under the chairmanship PWD Minister and Mandi Parishad chairman Shivpal Singh Yadav. It was also decided to establish a cold storage at fish mandi Gorakhpur and fruit-vegetable mandi Lucknow.
Ripening chambers will be established under the state industrial mission at Varanasi, Allahabad, Agra and Ghaziabad.
The Mandi Parishad passed the annual budget of Rs 442.15 crore for the financial year 2006-07. Rs 100 crore was sanctioned for development projects in 1,000 Lohia villages.
It was also decided to double the compensation paid to farmers under the accident plan. Now family members of farmers will get RS 50,000 in case of death.
Members of the Mandi Parishad gave approval to the Rs 130 crore-road project. Officials said 1000 new roads would be constructed and another Rs 30 crore would be released for the maintenance of the road in rural areas.
Walking a step towards the computerisation of Mandi Parishad the State Government released RS 7. 80 crore for networking, application software.
A sum of Rs 1.90 crore was allotted for brand promotion and mandi committees and seller-buyer meet.
