Ace designer Manish Malhotra says he was not instrumental in getting his nephew Punit his directorial debut I Hate Luv Storys.

Rumours were doing the rounds that Manish had recommended Punit's name to Karan Johar to give him an opportunity to direct I Hate Luv Storys for his banner Dharma Productions.

Rubbishing the rumours, the designer told IANS: "No. I only recommended the cast of the film to him."

Manish has designed the costumes for the film that also stars Imran Khan and Sonam Kapoor.
