After nearly a week-long tense environment, Bhatta-Parsaul village saw no political activity on Saturday. Most of the houses are still locked. Fearing the arrest of male members of their families, residents are not going home. On Friday evening, a wedding was solemnised in the village.

“The ceremony ended peacefully. In view of violent incidents in the village, the bride’s parents had decided to perform the ceremony at the groom’s place in Bulandshahr. But they decided to solemnise the marriage at Bhatta, after normalcy return-ed. Police protection was given to the family,” said Ambesh Tyagi, DSP.

“A hunt has been launched to nab Manvir Singh Tevatia. We are planning to clamp the National Security Act on him. His accomplices, too, are being looked for,” said Tyagi.

Meanwhile, SSP SN Singh has resumed duty in Bhatta after being discharged from hospital. He has been visiting the village for the past two days.

“Over 90% farmers in Bhatta-Parsaul have taken the compensation. It was not forcible but under the mutual agreement. It was Tevatia who instigated farmers to violence,” said Laxmi Narain, agriculture minister, Uttar Pradesh.
