The incident took place at Katingia, under Brahmanigaon police station area, about 150 km from Phulbani Sunday night, Kandhamal SP Praveen Kumar told PTI over phone.

Though there was no casualty in the incident, according to SP the rebels set fire to documents at the police outpost.

Stating that about 30 ultras participated in the attack, sources said that additional force could not reach at the spot due to felling of tress on the road connecting Brahmanigaon area.

This was the second instance of Maoist attack on Katingia police outpost after July 18.
