More than 30 rebels of outlawed Communist Party of India-Maoist blew up the control room using landmine late Saturday at Nilakamberu village, a senior district police officer said.

Malkangiri, 618 km from Bhubaneswar, is considered Maoists stronghold in the state.

In Chhattisgarh's restive Bastar region, Maoist rebels fired at a police station, police said. No casualty has been reported.

"Maoists fired three-four rounds from a distance at Pamer police station in Bijapur district. The rebels fled after the police retaliated," T.J. Longkumer, inspector general of police of Bastar range, told IANS over phone from Jagdalpur town.

He said no casualty or injury has been reported from either side. The officer refused to give the number of policemen at the police station that is located some 500 km south of capital Raipur close to the Andhra Pradesh border.
