Lok Sabha elections to be held in 9 phases from April 7 to May 12, counting on May 16
The Election Commission on Wednesday announced the schedule for the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, saying they will be held in nine phases from April 7, 2014 to May 12, 2014. Chief election commissioner VS Sampath announced the dates in a press conference. The counting of votes will be held on May 16.

Uphaar tragedy: SC upholds Ansals brothers' conviction

Upholding the conviction of Ansal brothers — Sushil and Gopal — in the 1997 Uphaar cinema fire case, the Supreme Court on Wednesday referred to a three-judge bench the question of quantum of sentence to be imposed on them. The fire in the theatre had claimed 59 lives.
