He also lodged a case under the Anti-Copying Act against two invigilators. In all, six flying squads caught 173 students using unfair means.

The DIOS, along with a flying squad, raided the Anand Vidyapeeth Inter College at Kakrahi following a complaint of mass copying. The raid was conducted when students were appearing for the Hindi III paper.

The DIOS ordered cancellation of the paper when he saw carbon copies of solved question papers in almost every examination hall.

The DIOS also raided the Prempati Devi Inter College, Machli Gaon, and cancelled the examination due to mass copying on March 8.

On March 9, he raided the BNBP High School in Maharaganj town and caught 35 students using unfair means.

He then requested the UP Board secretary to cancel the paper at the centre.
Mass copying has exposed the claims of education department officials. The education mafia has made special arrangements to facilitate copying.

Irregularities in selection of examination centres has also come to light. Students had to take the examination in tenthouses at half-a-dozen centres.

Meanwhile, according to a Lucknow report, a dearth of invigilators continued to dog the UP Board examinations on Wednesday.

This was so as teachers of Parishad schools kept away from duty and the DIOS office was unable to finalise a list of centre incharge and invigilators.

DIOS Vikas Srivastava's a warning to teachers shirking invigilation work has not evoked much of a response. Net result: Teachers are invigilating at their own schools, enabling students to copy at will.

“The rule of engaging 90 pc teachers from other schools and 10 pc teachers of the home school is being flouted at most institutions in the city,” an office-bearer of Madhyamik Shikshak Sangh said.

However, the district inspector of schools office could not come up with a satisfactory answer.

Meanwhile, special observers appointed by the district administration reached various centres to supervise the progress of the examinations.
