BSP chief Mayawati has accused the Congress government in Pondicherry of "neglecting" the welfare of scheduled castes and tribes in the Union Territory.

Addressing a election meeting in Pondicherry on Friday night, where BSP is contesting 16 constituencies, Mayawati said her party was not targeting any particular section of the society.
"BSP is committed for the welfare of the poor and have-nots," the former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister said.
Mayawati claimed that during her tenure as Chief Minister she had initiated several steps for the welfare of the downtrodden.
Twenty-seven constituencies in Pondicherry and Karaikal regions are going to polls in the second and final phase on May 9. Polling to two constituencies in Mahe and one in Yanam have been held on May 3.
