Mayawati inducts six ministers, upgrades 4

Governor TV Rajeswar administers the oath of office to the ministers at a simple ceremony at Raj Bhawan in the evening, reports Masoodul Hasan.

Chief Minister Mayawati on Wednesday inducted six new ministers in the five-month-old ministry. She also elevated four ministers of state to the Cabinet rank.

The Governor TV Rajeswar administered the oath of office to the ministers at a simple ceremony at Raj Bhawan in the evening.

While expanding the Cabinet the Chief Minister elevated Ministers of State (independent Charge) Badshah Singh, Ranganath Mishra, Anant Kumar Mishra and Minister of state Abdul Mannan to Cabinet rank. The four new faces in the Cabinet are Kamla Kant Gautam, Nand Gopal Gupta, Chandradeo Ram Yadav and Ashok Kumar.

The new ministers of state with independent charge are Jaivir Singh and Bhagwati Prasad.

With the expansion the total strength of the ministry has gone up to 54. There are now 28 Cabinet ministers including the chief minister.
