In a quick move the BSP chief Mayawati on Friday sacked two party leaders who had entered a hotel in Faizabad with weapons where Congress MP Rahul Gandhi was staying.
Issuing stern warning to party leaders in Lucknow on Friday, Mayawati said carrying weapons during the election was sheer violation of code of conduct and she would not tolerate it. She said two BSP leaders of Ghaziabad - Sant Ram Jatav and Pyarelal Jatav - had resorted to indiscipline while carrying weapons to Faizabad, which is going to polls on May 8.
Rahul Gandhi’s Special Protection Group (SPG) had nabbed the two BSP leaders from the krishna Palace hotel. The BSP leaders had come to campaign for the party candidate in Bikapur assembly segments in Ambedkarnagar and where staying hotel in Faizabad, where Rahul was also staying.
Mayawati said even though weapons were licenced it was illegal to carry them during the election. She said the poll code was also equally applicable to party leaders campaigning for the candidates. Mayawati said much before the commencement of campaigning she had issued guidelines to the workers to strictly abide by code of conduct.
She said the two party workers of Ghaziabad did not follow the guidelines and reached Faizabad with weapons. She said in view of violation of instructions the duo had been dismissed from the party.
