"It is very clear by now that neither the Congress-led UPA nor the BJP-led NDA will be able to muster a majority and the Third Front will play a crucial role in forming the next Government at the Centre. In such an eventuality, Mayawati will be the unanimous choice for the PM's post," BSP national general secretary Suresh Mane told reporters in Kozhikode.

Asked about names of RJD chief Lalu Prasad and NCP supremo Sharad Pawar cropping up for the top post, he said while many leaders from among the UPA constituents were vying for the position, "it is Mayawati who will be the choice if a non-UPA or non-NDA government comes to power, which is likely."

"If Sonia Gandhi and Advani are the centres of power in UPA and NDA, then it is Mayawati who is leading the remaining political parties in the country," Mane claimed.

Contesting all the 20 Lok Sabha seats in the state, the BSP was hoping to clinch the Thiruvananthapuram constituency where it had fielded former state minister, Neelalohithadasan Nadar, he added.
