MBA dept to shake hand with industry

IN A bid to expose students to industry functioning and help latter make use of former?s skill, Lucknow University?s MBA department has set up an Industry Institution Partnership Cell in association with the All India Council for Technical Education . The cell would work as a link between industry professionals and MBA students and promote interaction between the two. The cell will build relevant learning environment as no business school prospers in isolation.

IN A bid to expose students to industry functioning and help latter make use of former’s skill, Lucknow University’s MBA department has set up an Industry Institution Partnership Cell (IIPC) in association with the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).

The cell would work as a link between industry professionals and MBA students and promote interaction between the two. The cell will build relevant learning environment as no business school prospers in isolation.

AICTE has sanctioned Rs 7 lakh grant-in-aid to Lucknow University in meeting out the expenses incurred in various activities to be undertaken by the cell.

Initially the cell has been approved for duration of three years and will be subject to annual review and satisfactory progress. The cell will undertake numerous proposed activities, like to arrange industry training for student and to identify student project work in industries.

Says head of the department JK Sharma: “Other activities that are proposed encouraging industry to collaborate in Industry Study Tour Programmes and placement of students in industries. Faculty of exchange is also on the card.

“Personality development workshop for students relating to communication skills. Associating experts from industry in curriculum planning and review. Guest lectures by eminent personalities. Academics, leading industrialists at regular intervals to update the student knowledge. Conducting market surveys and feasibility reports through projects assigned to the students and providing them to the industry for their benefit,” he added.

According to LU for fruitful implementation of the proposal submitted to AICTE and also institute will provide all the basic facilities available to ensure successful implementation of the project. Says Sharma: “In a bid to arm students with the latest know how of the industries, the department has tied up with bodies like PHD Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Indian Industries of Association, etc as well.”

The students of the department have welcomed the setting up of this cell as they reckon that it would enable them in getting them good exposure. “Frequent visit of the industry professionals in the department and our tour to the industry will help us a lot in understanding the routine functioning of the industries. And so when after the completion of the course we move out it would prove as an asset for all of us,” says a final semester student.
