The Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) has finally displayed the citizens' charter at its old municipal committee premises opposite to the Civil Hospital.
The charter, which has been put up since Friday, states the time the corporation would take to issue mandatory certificates to the public.
Issuing a birth or death certificate will take three days, while property transfer certificate 14 days. House construction map or plan certificate will take 23 days, no dues certificate 25 days, certificate from fire service department 30 days, RTI certificate 30 days, marriage certificate 15 days and mobile tower registration certificate 30 days.
The civic agency had for long been under pressure by the residents, representatives of various residents' welfare associations (RWAs) and social activists to display the charter.
The residents have welcomed the move. "I hope it helps the corporation win the faith of people in the system," said Aseem Takyar, a resident.
Takyar has filed several RTI applications to know which official is responsible for what work in the corporation and in other departments.
"People are ignorant about the exact number of departments in the MCG. Also, they are unaware about the strength of each department. We don't know who to approach to get a particular work done," said Bhawani Shankar Tripathy, another resident.
