Noted social activist Medha Patkar on Saturday launched a padyatra (march) from Nandigram, which would go to Singur, then Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh and end in Mumbai.

Patkar said the padyatra was to highlight the "drawbacks" of the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) policy of governments, both at the Centre and in the states.

The SEZ will only benefit industrialists and rich people and hurt farmers and poor people, she alleged.
