Henceforth media will not be allowed to show visuals of youths, involved in rave parties and caught red handed in surprise police raids!
A directive to this effect will soon be issued to all the police stations in the state, minister of the state for Home, Nitin Raut announced in the state legislative council in Nagpur on Saturday.
The minister made the announcement in response to a calling attention motion, raised by the NCP member Jitendra Awhad on the issue. The NCP member said that it was not fair on the part of media to show visuals of the police raids on rave party because very often such exposure makes youths involved look guilty even when they were innocent.
He said that there were even excesses from the police during the raids and wanted to know if the government was going to take any cognizance of the matter.
The council deputy chairman, Vasant Davkhare pointed out that parents of some youths, who were detained in Sinhgad rave party near Pune, complained that their children were innocent and did not test positive in narcotics tests. However, police had pressurized doctors to prove them guilty during the medical test. The issue has to be dealt carefully as it pertains to future of youth, Davkhare pointed out.
He asked the Home minister to re-investigate the case of Sinhgad rave party and alleged that many innocents were forcefully declared guilty. "Some information which came to light in the case was so offensive that it cannot be discussed in the House," he further said.

{{/usCountry}}Nitin Gadkari and Vinod Tawade, both from BJP, informed the chair that many times innocent youngsters get trapped in these parties. In many cases, they are also harassed by the police for no rhyme or reason, they said. The members also wanted to know how many people were caught in rave parties organised in Pune and Mumbai to which Nitin Raut said probe was going on.
During the debate, Tawde also informed the House that the Mumbai deputy police commissioner Vishwas Nagre-Patil was distributing CCTV footage of Taj Hotel operation during the 26/11 Mumbai terror to media. "The government should take stern action against such media-crazy officer," he demanded.
The state would give an appropriate direction to the police department to ensure that only the spokesperson speaks to media to avoid any confusion, the minister announced.
