Mediapersons, in their meeting with Bhardwaj and chief minister D V Sadananda Gowda, complained that inspite of video footage available in public domain, both police and government have failed to take action and arrest the lawyers involved in the attack.

All courts here remained closed today while prohibitory orders were in force around city civil court complex, which had turned into a virtual battlefield yesterday.

Objecting to the presence of mediapersons assembled to cover former minister Janardhan Reddy's appearance in the CBI court, unruly advocates had gone on a rampage in the court complex premises yesterday.

"It was an intelligence failure. Police should have taken precautions," Bhardwaj told a delegation of mediapersons which submitted a memorandum to him seeking his intervention to direct the government to initiate action against the culprits.

Bhardwaj disapproved of any curbs on media in performing its duties. "Corrupt people ensure that media is barred from coverage of some events," he said but did not name anyone.

The delegation told him about stones stored inside the court premises, saying that it was a pre-planned attack.
