THIS WAS a true fusion of three languages – English, Hindi and poetry. A medley of poetry and recitations. The two-hour play ‘Trisanga’, which combines the beauty of languages and the richness of theatre, was staged at Ravindra Bhawan on Friday.
Swami Vivekanand’s speech in English, recitation of Urdu, Hindi and English poems, revisiting of the Hindu mythology, Trisanga makes an attempt to break the walls between the languages and brings them on a common platform while retaining their distinctive identities.
Trisanga is the first of the three plays to be staged at the festival of plays by Tom Alter and the Pierrot’s troupe. The festival is being organised by the Bhopal Chapter of the Association of British Scholars. The other two plays that are to be staged are Maulana and K L Saigal.
Tom Alter, Uday Chandra and Chander Khanna enthralled the audience with their intellectual recitations. Uday’s re-enactment of Swami Vivekanad’s speech at the World Congress of Religions, Chicago, was intellectually stimulating.
