Under the programme, Dr RK Sharda delivered a lecture on ‘causes and prevention of bird flu’ recently. He said that the main reason for bird flu in India was that the migratory birds coming from distant places crossing continents might have brought it. He threw light on the causes and ways to prevent it in our country.

Earlier, two very important lectures were delivered on Saturday at this training camp. Dr UK Garg spoke on ‘Forensic investigation of animals’.

He said that the role of the veterinary doctors in this field could be judged by an example that actor Salman Khan was caught and convicted in a poaching case in the forests of Jodhpur with the help of the veterinary doctors.

If there were no veterinary doctors, cruelty to animals would have been a daily affair by people. Dr Garg further said that Salman Khan could have saved himself by denying the charges levelled against him by the police as no animal could become a witness in the court but the veterinary doctors put each and every detail of poaching in the postmortem report given by them.
