A mild earthquake measuring 4.1 on the Richter scale jolted southwestern Pakistan on Tuesday but there were no immediate reports of casualties or damage, officials said.

Tremors were felt in Quetta, the capital of Balochistan province, and surrounding areas at 11:01 am, seismological department spokesman Mukhtar Ahmed said.

The epicentre was located in the Chiltan mountains near Quetta, he said.
Quetta was devastated in a massive earthquake in 1935 that killed around 60,000 people.
Last October more than 73,000 people died when a giant 7.6-magnitude quake devastated northwestern Pakistan and Pak occupied Kashmir.
