Minister of state for home Sajjad Ahmad Kichloo inaugurated the newly-created police posts at Afti and Margi in Marwah and Warwan areas of Kisthwar district.
Addressing the gatherings at Afti and Inshan, the minister said people earlier had to travel long distance to lodge complain for redressal of their problems.
Chief minister Omar Abdullah had taken several steps for development of remote areas, he said.
The minister appreciated the role of state police for rescuing the marooned people last month.
The minister urged the people to take advantage of the newly-established police posts and directed the senior police officials to deploy adequate manpower at these posts.
He said there is a genuine need for road links in the remote areas of Marwah and added that he has prioritised the issue of completion of telecommunication towers at Marwah.
