In an application to the police, 14-year-old Jhangu, studying in seventh class in Dotariya village, alleged that her parents were forcing her to get married while she wanted to pursue her studies further, Dhar Superintendent of Police (SP), Chanchal Shekhar told PTI.

Shekhar said that police has accepted her request and counselled her family members as well as that of groom not to go ahead with the planned marriage as the girl was minor.

If they did not heed to the advice, action will be taken against them under the Prevention of Child Marriage Act, he added.
