Misinformed about her result in the UP Board Class X examinations, a girl committed suicide in Meerut.

Misinformed about her result in the Uttar Pradesh Board Class X examinations, a teenager allegedly committed suicide by consuming a poisonous substance at her relative's house in Meerut, police said on Saturday.

The 16-year-old girl, a resident of Modinagar, took the extreme step on Friday night after being wrongly informed by a relative, who had checked her result on internet, that she had failed. However, it was later found that she passed with 56 per cent marks, her father said.

The girl was rushed to a Mohan Nagar hospital where she breathed her last. She was cremated after the post-mortem examination, police added.
