Trekkers spotted the body and informed the police, following which a police team reached the spot.

Superintendent of police (SP), Kangra, Balbir Thakur told Hindustan Times that the police identified the body through an identity card found in the clothes of the deceased.

Thakur said prima facie it seemed to be an accidental death, adding that Nibhanpudi’s camera and wallet had also been found.

“However, we are still investigating the case. The cause of the death will be known after an autopsy,” said Thakur.

Nibhanpudi had arrived here on a holiday to McLeodganj on November 24, 2012. He told a friend that he was going to Triund, a popular trekking spot near McLeodganj. Later that day, his phone was switched off and he went missing. He was reportedly travelling alone. Two days later, the family informed the police.
