Election for the 40-member state assembly is scheduled for November 29.

A meeting on security held at the office of Chief Secretary Haukhum Hauzel decided that Central paramilitary forces and BSF authorities in the state would soon submit the requirement of additional forces to enforce the sealing of borders to the state government.

Deputy Commissioners of all the eight districts were also instructed to issue orders to the public to submit all private arms to the nearest police station.

Border Roads Organisation and the state PWD authorities were also instructed to ensure that all roads are well maintained to enable the polling parties to conduct the election smoothly.

Mizoram shares 404 km-long international border with Myanmar and 318 km-long international border with Bangladesh while it shares large stretch or boundary with Manipur, Assam and Tripura, all infested with insurgent groups.
