Addressing the mediapersons on Tuesday, Dr Kumar said the achievement is a result of years of continuous research on the subject. "The MLNMC Anatomy Department had rejected my theory and opposed my work when I was a Lecturer. I put forward my theory to ASI in 1989 and it has taken 16 years for the laws invented by him to get the recognition," he said.
Dr Kumar said that these laws will greatly help in the field of medical sciences as it is presumed that the flow of blood through the arteries is due to heart beat and the fact about contraction and relaxation of the arterial muscles was unknown.
According to the laws put forth by Dr Kumar, all the arteries expand during systole of heart and contract during diastole of heart.
The arterial expansion is directly proportional to arterial elasticity and arterial contraction is directly proportional to arterial muscularity. The arterial elasticity is directly proportional to arterial proximity to the heart and arterial muscularity is directly proportional to arterial distance from the heart. Dr Kumar said he is delegated with the award and claimed that he has become the first teacher from MLNMC to receive the Gold Medal from ASI.
