People's Democratic Party (PDP) patron Mufti Muhammad Sayeed on Sunday ruled out any BJP wave in Jammu and Kashmir saying the state has its own leadership and claimed to form next government all alone as the penultimate fourth phase of polls ended here.
"(Prime Minister Narendra) Modi might be a leader at the national level but this state has its own leadership. Modi ji is not everywhere. It may not happen here," said 78-year-old Sayeed, the former union home minister who repeatedly asked the BJP to respect its Muslim-majority character during his campaign.
Speaking on a range of issues after casting his vote at the Bijbehara polling station in south Kashmir, Sayeed, who is also the party's chief ministerial candidate, defended the BJP decision to contest on a large scale in Jammu and Kashmir for the first time this year.
"Like Congress and others, the BJP has every right to contest polls here but the people have to take the final decision whom they want to represent them," said the PDP patron, who indeed peddled the BJP factor to win Muslim votes in the Kashmir valley.
He ruled out forming any alliance with any party. "People are showing faith in the PDP, which have had a transparent and accountable government in the past. People expect an accountable government again. I think we will get full mandate and win majority seats. I don't think there will be need to form any coalition as people are reposing faith in the party," claimed Sayeed.

{{/usCountry}}He expressed satisfaction over increased voter percentage in Srinagar, which witnessed just 20% polls in 2008. "Srinagar is making history. Large participation by people of Srinagar will give legitimacy to these polls. People are voting because of the BJP fear and PDP's agenda to provide clean governance," he added.
The party's CM candidate, who faces a tough challenge from the Congress despite the fact National Conference candidate Mehbooba Beg at the last moment joined the party in his constituency in Anantnag, said, "People are showing enthusiasm in polls after it saw the PDP opening the cross-LoC bus service and trade. Our peace policy is being appreciated," added Sayeed.
