The government is gearing up to observe ‘Sushashan Diwas’ (Good Governance Day) in a big way on Thursday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has set December 25 as the deadline for all central ministers to bring out e-books showcasing the achievement of their respective ministries.
Following the cabinet meeting on Wednesday, Modi advised cabinet ministers on how the day should be observed. “He has told his cabinet colleagues that all ministries will have to be ready with their e-books by Thursday,” said a source.
Besides e-books, the government is also organising a day-long exhibition at the Manekshaw Centre highlighting the success story achieved by the respective ministries in the last seven months.
Though no official communication has been issued, top and mid-level officials, in almost all the central government ministries, will be present in their respective offices on Christmas Day, which is otherwise a gazetted holiday.
“We will be releasing the ministry e-book and hold a workshop on good governance,” said a senior central government bureaucrat.
Cabinet secretary Ajit Seth issued a circular on December 23 to all ministries to observe Good Governance Day in a befitting manner. “You would have already received communications on observance of Sushashan Diwas on 25 December from the Departments of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances, Information and Broadcasting and Electronics and Information Technology. I would therefore urge you to take all necessary action so that the Sushashan Diwas is observed in a befitting manner. You may also like to obtain the guidance of your Minister in this regard,” Seth’s letter states.
