Modi's Red Fort speech strikes a chord with audience, finds HT poll

After Modi delivered a speech that was high on emotion and measured in political rhetoric, HT asked its readers what they thought about the Prime Minister's address. Read on to know the results.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's maiden Independence Day speech at Red Fort on Friday struck a chord with the people who voted him to power in May, an online survey conducted by HT found.

After Modi delivered a speech that was high on emotion and measured in political rhetoric, HT asked its readers what they thought about the Prime Minister's address that stressed the welfare of poor and women, skill development training for the youth as well as some rural development schemes.

The poll question was: 'How would you rate Prime Minister Narendra Modi's first Independence Day speech from Red Fort?' And there were five options: excellent, good, average, bad and poor.

The response to the survey, which was published around 9:00am on Friday, was overwhelming. Till 3:15pm, as many as 3,269 respondents cast their votes.



A whopping 78.77% of the respondents (altogether 2,575 ) said Modi's speech was excellent, clearly impressed with the Prime Minister's vision for a new India and his focus on women's welfare at a time when a series of sex crimes has shocked the nation.
