Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee president (JKPCC) president, Prof Saifuddin Soz, has claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's rally at Srinagar on Monday was highly unimpressive.
"After a great fanfare, Narendra Modi's rally at Srinagar turned out to be highly unimpressive and to add insult to injury, he wants to take credit for things which have either not happened or happened not with Modi's contribution", Soz said.
He said, "The reports are that at the most 2,500 people turned up at Modi's rally after (BJP's) great efforts to collect people from across the length and breadth of Kashmir. To say the least, Modi's speech was highly disjointed and the content was mere propaganda".
Criticising Modi for invoking former prime minister Atal Behri Vajpayee who had said the Kashmir issue can be resolved within the parameters of humanity, Soz said, "First of all, Modi is not aware of what then Prime Minister Atal Behri Vajpayee meant by saying that the Kashmir issue would be resolved within the parameters of Insaniyat. Modi is very widely-recognised in J&K as a strong votary of abrogation of Article 370. How can he talk of solution within the parameters of Insaniyat? His silence on Article 370 at this time speaks volumes on his perception of the Kashmir problem. Unfortunately, he does not know how to set a limit to his propaganda about things", he added.
Countering Modi on his claim that for the first time in 30 years, the army in Kashmir delivered speedy justice by initiating action against army personnel responsible for killing two youths in Budgam, Soz said, "While it is true that army went wrong in opening fire in many situations. It is also true that it has apologised many times for its wrong actions and that had happened long before Modi was on the scene.
