There have been many gurus in my life, starting with my mom who is my biggest guru. I look at Saroj Khan as another guru as I learned a lot from her when she choreographed me. and then there’s Pandit Birju Maharaj from whom I have learnt Kathak.

I studied in a boarding school in Nainital and discipline was something that was taught to us. There was a certain amount of regimentation and not in a bad way, but in a manner in which it teaches you to respect time.

A value that my class 8 literature teacher taught us was to be responsible. I remember her because she was the only teacher who didn’t send us to principal’s office for any wrongdoings. I learnt from her was that we are responsible for our decisions.
