In an ongoing special drive to enroll voters, a total of 1,44,493 residents registered themselves from various cities in Haryana. While the maximum enrolments were reported in Faridabad district at 36,000 new voters in the first fortnight of January, the lowest was reported from Mahendergarh at 764.

Other districts which saw encouraging numbers included Sonipat with 18,944 new voters and Jind with 10,182 new voters, said Sumita Misra, chief electoral officer-cum-commissioner and secretary, Haryana Election Department. The total included 78,287 males and 66,206 females and 1,16,459 were in the age group of 18-39 years.
After this special campaign, more than 1.38 crore voters, including more than 75.31 lakh males and 63.04 lakh females, have become part of the state electoral roll. A total of 8.22 lakh new voters have been registered in Haryana over the past year, the highest number in a non-election year according to Misra.
