MORE TWO-DAY cricket matches would be organised for juniors, said MPCA secretary Sanjay Jagdale while addressing the players at the prize distribution ceremony of Padam Shashi under-17 cricket tournament organised by Indore Divisional Cricket Association at Yeshwant Club on Sunday.
Kannan Narain of Vistaar Technolgies Inc, the sponsor of the tournament, was the chief guest at the prize distribution function. Kannan said that he was very happy that the tournament was a grand success and the junior cricketers played good cricket. He thanked Indore Divisional Cricket Association for the successful conduct of the tournament and he gave special complements to the secretary of IDCA Kanwaljeet Khanuja.
Kannan said that they were planning to organise the tournament in a big way. Jagdale said more and more tournaments of two or three-day matches would be held.
Two-day and one-day matches are entirely different from each other. We can see the quality of a player in two-day matches than in one-dayers.
Cricket Club of Indore (CCI) won the trophy and Indore Sports were the runners-up. Ankit Dane won the ‘best batsman’ award, while Madhur Nahar won the ‘best bowler’ award. Ankur Palanpure won the ‘best all-rounder’ award. All the players were given portable TV.
15 players who won the man of the match awards were presented watch. Former test cricketer Narerndra Hirwani was the special guest and IDCA president Shravan Gupta and secretary Kanwaljeet Khanuja were also present. Sanjay Jagdale presented a memento to chief guest Kannan Narain, while Rajesh Walecha conducted the programme. Ramesh Kushwah proposed vote of thanks.
