Police provided the security to the mother of the victim after she lodged a complaint that there is a threat to her life, they said, adding a constable would accompany her 24 hours.

The girl was sexually assaulted at Bharatiya Gyan Sthali School in Kalyanpur area on September 27 after which she died at a hospital the same day.

Following dissatisfaction among the victim's family and locals over the inquiry being conducted by Kalyanpur police, the case was handed over to Cantt police.
