Startling revelations came to light after Circle Officer (CO) Gomti Nagar RN Singh received a phone call from a local resident at Sector-4, Vinay Khand. The caller suspected the role of the deceased’s step-father Lakshmi Narayan Gupta and his wife Maya. The person said Maya’s 18-year-old son Aakash had not been seen since September 1 and the couple was avoiding query about the boy too. Cops picked up Maya and Gupta for interrogation. Initially, the couple tried to mislead the police saying that Aakash had consumed poison following some family dispute and died on May 31. They claimed that they had cremated the body also.

But, after rigorous quizzing by the senior officials the couple confessed about the sensational killing of Aakash. Maya said, Aakash would pester them for property and fuss about it daily.

Maya, a native of Hunsepur village, Azamgarh, revealed that she was first married to Bhallu Singh of Akbarpur in 1987. Since Singh was a farmer and used to live in village, Maya could not continue her marital life happily.

Their married life turned sour and the couple opted for divorce merely after one-and-half-months of their marriage. But, Maya was pregnant when she had separated from her husband. She gave birth to a child in the same year. Maya later shifted to her brother’s place at 4/250, Viram Khand in Gomti Nagar, Lucknow leaving her son with her parents at the native village. Meanwhile, she developed intimacy with Lakshmi Narayan Gupta while visiting to latter’s milk shop at Patrakarpuram crossing. The duo later tied the nuptial knot in 1995 and started living with Gupta at E-4/564, Vinay Khand.
