CHIEF MINISTER Mulayam Singh Yadav on Monday once again said he had confirmed information about a Raj Bhawan move for the imposition of President’s rule in the State. Yadav said any ‘unsigned’ denial of the governor on the issue was meaningless. Yadav also challenged Congress chief Sonia Gandhi to face him in UP.

Addressing the inaugural function of Maulana Ali Miyan memorial Baitul Hujjaj (Haj House) here on Monday, Yadav also announced to hold a special emergency session of the Samajwadi Party here on November 25 to chalk out a counter action plan.

Calling upon party cadre for ‘non-violent bagawat’ (non-violent rebellion), Yadav said he had accepted the challenge of Sonia Gandhi. He said he was being insulted and it would not be tolerated.

The law and order situation in UP was far better than Mumbai and Delhi, Yadav said adding the party would give a befitting reply to Sonia Gandhi. “It would be alright, if my government goes because of any wrong-doing. But plans are afoot to dismiss my government without any fault,” the chief minister said adding the governor’s denial on the issue was meaningless, as the press statement was not signed by any Raj Bhawan authority.

Yadav said the “so-called secular leaders were jealous of me” because of the development he had brought during the last three years.

In an attempt to woo the Muslims, the chief minister said construction of Haj House within a year was proof enough that the government was committed to the welfare of the community. Yadav also recalled the sops given to the community during the last three years, including appointments in the police and the PAC. He also assailed the Centre for implicating SIMI activists in “fake cases”.
