Addressing a press conference in Bhopal, Javed said the State Government’s decision to delete a lesson on Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru from the school syllabus was a well-planned conspiracy to put the seed of divisiveness in young minds.

He said this trend was initiated by former Union HRD Minister Murli Manohar Joshi by bringing about change in the NCERT syllabus and was being continued by the MP Government. He alleged the agenda was not only to create divisions, but also to commercialise education by privatising it and saffronise it .

Javed was in the City to lead an agitation against syllabus change and to demand the revival of direct elections to students’ council in State colleges and universities.

On the issue of students’ council polls, Javed said these elections were the first step towards democracy and the way to ensure that students’ activism – so important for development of society – was kept alive. However, the Government, despite making promises to the effect had not revived the process, which shows its dual nature.

On the deteriorating law and order situation in the State during the last three years, Javed said while youth’s agenda was development and dreams, the State was giving them violence and disintegrated society. Congress and NSUI propagate development and BJP propagates hate however, the NSUI would expose this face of BJP before the youth, he said.

Conceding that the standard of politics is falling day by day, Javed said the NSUI conducts special training sessions for office-bearers at national and State level on ideology-based issues, so that it could percolate among the cadre.
