MADHYA PRADESH STATE Electricity Board (MPSEB) officials have caused a loss of Rs 200 crore to Board by not realising penalty in the last 10 years on suppliers for delay in delivery of goods, according to a complaint to the Madhya Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission.
A voluntary organisation - Nagrik Upbhokta Margdarshak Manch - has alleged in the complaint that though the MPSEB has made purchases of nearly Rs 20,194 crore in last 10 years (from 1995 to 2004), it did not impose penalty on the suppliers for delay in delivery of goods.
According to the Manch president P G Najpandey, the 1959 purchase rules of stores clearly state that one per cent penalty against the purchase will be imposed on supplier for delay in delivery of goods but the MPSEB officials seem to have forgotten this rule.
