There is a "possibility" of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav visiting Nithari village in Noida, the scene of the grisly killings of children, states PWD Minister and Yadav's brother Shivpal Singh Yadav said on Saturday.
"There is a possibility the Chief Minister would visit Nithari," he said when questioned by reporters in Hardoi.
The government had recommended the CBI probe to bring "more transparency and impartiality" in the investigations", he said.
The statement of Yadav comes amid media speculation about the "Noida jinx" surrounding Chief Ministers and after the row he kicked up by his description of the Nithari serial killings as "a small and routine incident."
Successive Chief Ministers have shied from visiting the industrial township on the outskirts of Delhi ahead of the elections due to the superstition that they lose their posts shortly after.
Yadav, however, repeated that the state police had "almost worked out the case." He made a similar claim during his visit to the Noida village on Thursday.
The minister was in this town to inaugurate a 220-kv power station to bring two hours additional power supply to the district.
