"Two bomb squads of Mumbai police scanned the station, but no suspicious material was found. It was a hoax call," a police official said in Mumbai.

"The cyber crime control received an anonymous call at 1517 hours saying that a bomb had been planted at Vile Parle station," he said.

The station was vacated and trains between Bandra and Andheri stations were halted and passengers evacuated, the official said.

The bomb scare caused panic among commuters on the Western railway line, which was hit by seven bomb blasts on Tuesday that killed 200 people and injured over 700.

However, police said there was no cause for panic and that trains services had resumed.
