Though employees in leadership positions are jittery about this new initiative, employees below that level are very happy at this new opportunity to grow.

The company had seen a high 16.9% staff attrition in the first quarter, when more than 9,500 people quit.

Industry sources said Infosys has swapped six-month residential classroom training at its showpiece Mysore centre for cheaper online learning.

“We have a combination of online as well as classroom training for our foundation programme,” an Infosys spokesperson said.

To fight attrition at lower levels, the company is taking feedback from employees through a survey named ‘Litmus Test’. Murthy is visiting all Infosys campuses one by one. Barely a fortnight after his return in June, Murthy had hiked salaries by an average 8%.
