Musharraf for political unity to deal with terror

The president said this in wake of attack by a suicide bomber on troops training in Dargai.

In the wake of attack by a suicide bomber on troops training in Dargai that left over 35 dead and nearly 40 others injured, President Gen Pervez Musharraf has appealed for political unity to forcefully deal with the twin menace of terrorism and extremism facing the nation.

He told a meeting of Ministers and selected members of Parliament on Wednesday that nation and political forces should work unitedly to eliminate terrorism.

Referring to Wednesday's attack by a suicide bomber on troops training in Dargai in Malakand tribal agency, Musharraf said his government has conviction and resolve to eliminate terrorism.

The meeting discussed the current political situation in the country, state run APP said.

Gen Musharraf said that the, "extremism and terrorism is the critical problems facing the nation and we have to deal with it very forcefully."

He said that "protection of National Interest is our priority and the government will take all possible measures in this regard."
