Superintendent of police Maneesh Chaudhry said the accused, Sham Bahadur Thapa (58), had been absconding since the case has been registered against him. He was not present when a raid was conducted at his residence.

Meanwhile, the school had suspended Thapa after receiving complaints from the parents of four students of Class 5. The school management had lodged a complaint with police.

Police had recorded the statements of the students, their parents and the school authorities, Chaudhry said.

Thapa had been granted bail after he surrendered before the court of the additional chief judicial magistrate on Monday evening for a personal bond of Rs 10,000. The next hearing will be on February 23.

Thapa told newspersons that he was being framed, probably by some people who wanted him to teach one of the students after school hours.
