Almost all major markets such as Nai Sarak, Chauk and Dalmandi etc. remained over-crowded with Muslims purchasing clothes, vermicelli and other items. Due to unprecedented rush, busy roads such as Lahurabeer-Girjaghar, Maidagin to Godaulia and Lahurabeer to Maidagin etc are witnessing massive traffic jams in the evening.

On Friday devotees offered ‘Alvida Ki Namaz’ at various mosques including Shahi Masjid Gyanvapi, Munshi Ki Masjid, Latsarraiya Masjid and Usmania Jama Masjid etc. in Varanasi and adjoining areas on Friday. Heavy rush of Namazis was seen in Muslim dominated areas such as Bazardeeha, Shivala, Gauriganj, Madanpura, Rewari Talab, Dalmandi, Pitarkunda, Lallapura, Badi Bazar, Alaipura, Orderly Bazar and Chittanpura etc.

Besides, authorities of Varanasi Nagar Nigam are making all efforts to ensure proper sanitation arrangement on the occasion of Eid festival. A special sanitation drive will also be launched in the city’s Muslim dominated areas.

Apart from this, in the wake of Malegaon terrorist attack, intelligence agencies have advised local administration to ensure fool-proof security arrangements in Muslim dominated areas of the city to counter any crisis on the occasion of Eid.
