A children’s minor altercation turned into a communal clash in Valipura village of Muzaffarnagar district, resulting in injuries to at least four people from both communities.

Police have made an arrest and heavy force has been deployed in the village to prevent escalation of the matter.

“It was a minor scuffle and we have arrested one person,” said SP (crime) Rakesh Jolly, adding “members of one group have given a complaint in which they have claimed injuries to four people. A minor girl was also injured and was given medical assistance.”

The incident began when a boy sustained minor injuries after he was hit by a motorcycle being driven by a boy, Bunti. A group of youngsters who were standing there thrashed Bunti and his friend. In the ensuing day, the altercation swelled up to a large crowd consisting members of both communities who engaged in heavy brick batting.

Police officials rushed to spot and also visited the village and asked people to maintain peace.”The situation is under control and police are keeping a close watch on every development,” said Jolly.
